Bet Bizarre: The Escalator Incident – Alcohol vs. Physics

Spoiler: Physics wins. There are videos that restore your faith in humanity, and then there are videos that make you thankful humanity has surveillance cameras.

The casino posted the footage on Instagram, where the clip racked up millions of views. The commentaries ranged from “call an Uber” to “that’s why elevators exist.”

If you fear the clip ended in tragedy, breathe easy. Nobody suffered serious injury, and the whole episode quickly shifted into pure spectacle.

It could have gotten a lot worse, though. Since this happened in the US, what do you think the couple did – or wanted to do? Right, sue the casino.

In true “my coffee was too hot” fashion, the couple planned to take the casino to court, as they felt the escalator had unexpectedly attacked and injured them.

After viewing the video and unable to keep a straight face, their lawyer strongly advised against a lawsuit, and the two new internet stars sheepishly obliged.

However, Plaza’s social team leaned into it and set an example of customer service.

The casino reportedly paid the couple $1000 in exchange for permission to share the footage, turning a near-lawsuit into a marketing win and the couple into temporary Internet royalty.

In short: a possible lawsuit turned into a $1,000 cameo and a lesson for all of us — when the sign says “up,” please do not demonstrate your commitment to alternative physics.
