From Best Toilet to Worst Vlogger – The Casinos Day Awards

Ah, the International Casinos Day Awards — where the glitz of gambling meets the glamour of… bathroom tiles? Yes, it’s the first time for these awards to be handed out, and we already hope for more next year.

These awards celebrate achievements that range from the sublime to the downright ridiculous. Let’s dive into the highlights of this year’s ceremony, where irony was a guest of honor.

Let’s look at some of the more traditional categories first.

Best Casino in Las Vegas – Bellagio

There are newer and probably better casinos these days in Las Vegas, but the Bellagio just seems to be a people’s favorite. Start the water games!

🎰 Best Casinos in Europe: Because Someone Had to Win

Monaco – Grand Casino Monte Carlo

Well, color me shocked. The best casino in Monte Carlo is the Monte Carlo, and not the … well … other one. There is another one, right?

Ireland – Sporting Casino

The Sporting Casino clinched the title of Best Casino in Ireland. It’s more a classic members only club without slot games, but just table games. I can smell the leather from here.

Finland – Casino Helsinki

Casino Helsinki, a state-owned establishment, donates all its profits to charity. It’s a place where you can gamble away your money, knowing it’s going to a good cause. (Wikipedia) Finland is different.

London – Hippodrome

Not only, but surely because of the ties with PokerStars, the Hippodrome hast made its way to the top of London casinos during the 2010s, and it’s still up there.

So far, so good. However, the Casinos Day awards have some more extraordinary categories on offer. Here’s a selection.

🏆 The Awards You Didn’t Know You Needed

🚽 Best Casino Toilet – The Royal Flush Award

An award that truly flushes out the competition. This year’s winner boasted toilets so luxurious, you’d think twice about leaving. Congratulations go to The Cosmopolitan, which was voted no 1 both by the public and the awards’ expert. Yes, they have an expert for this. No, I don’t know why.

🎥 Best and Worst Vlogger/Casino Influencer

In the age of social media, even casinos aren’t safe from influencers. The Best Vlogger award went to someone who managed to make losing money look fun, while the Worst Vlogger award reminded us that not everyone should be on camera.

Turns out that “Travel Ruby”/ “Slots Ruby” is a fan favorite, probably because she comes across as an authentic, real person. On the flip side,  most people could do without “SDGuy 1234”. Should make him think, shouldn’t it.

🧶 Best Carpet

Yes, there’s an award for carpet. This year’s winner featured a pattern so dizzying, it doubled as a security measure against card counters. But really, the deserved winner is Cesar’s Palace with its unique Roman themed layout.

🎰 Worst Slot Game of the Year

This award highlights the slot game that managed to combine low payouts with mind-numbing graphics. A true testament to how not to engage players. The winner is “Tax Season Spinathon”, a slot based on tax calculation that nobody ever waited for.

Funnily enough, this game had been called one of the worst slots in 2024 as well. Got to be really bad then.

🎰Best Casino Slot Game of the Year

“Electric Joker” was voted number 1 here, and I’m not quite sure why. It’s another 5×3 reels fruit machine. But then, none of us at GambleBoost have really tested it, and even Casinodaddy seem to like it, so maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye.

🤔 Are These Awards Necessary?

In a word: no. But that’s the point. The International Casinos Day Awards are a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the casino world’s quirks and idiosyncrasies. They remind us that while gambling is serious business, there’s always room for a little humor.

So, here’s to the winners, the losers, and everyone in between. May your carpets be plush, your toilets pristine, and your slot games slightly less terrible next year.
