Book of Dead and Mahjong Ways 2 are the Spain and Argentina of the slots world! The two slots secured their spots in the final after an exciting penultimate round.
It’s the semi-finals of our own Slots World Cup 2026, and the last four slots competing were Playtech’s Book of Dead, Netent’s Starburst, PG Soft’s Mahjong Ways 2, and Pragmatic Play’s Fire Portals.
We used our RNG again to determine the semis, and it gave us these two matches:
In the end, it was all-time classic Book of Dead and surprise finalist Mahjong Ways 2 who went all the way to the very last match.

Quite a few players say that this would have been the most worthy final, and we are inclined to agree.
However, lots are lots, and Book of Dead had to face Starburst like Spain had to face France.
As expected, it turned out to be a close run, and both games ended up with a profit, showing how hard they both tried to go through to the final.
In the end, Book of Dead won by just 10 bets after 1000 spins! So that’s it. Starburst made an honorable exit, winning 28x at the end of their round, but it wasn’t enough.
Book of Dead was our first finalist.
| Book of Dead | Starburst | |
| Starting Stack | 25,000 | 1,000 |
| Bet | 10 | 1 |
| Finishing Stack | 25,385 | 1,029.80 |
| Result | +38.5 | +30 |
In the second of our semi-finals, England went up against Arg… no wait. Mahjong Ways 2 and Fire Portals were not exactly favorites at the start of the tournament, but they fought hard and earned their spots in the semis of this tournament.
Mahjong Ways 2 went first, and they started out strong, moving into the plus almost immediately. And it never looked back, finishing comfortably in the profit zone.
Fire Portals, on the other hand, faced nothing but an absolute disaster. In 1000 spins, the game never found a single bonus round, and we’ve got to say, Pragmatic Play, what are you doing?
Don’t give us no “enhanced chance” for bonus rounds stuff, 1000 spins must be enough for a game to at least try to score. Fire Portals finished with a massive loss, and as pretty as this game is, graphics don’t make up for everything.
Mahjong Ways 2 wins in a landslide and is the game that will challenge Book of Dead in this week’s final. Stay tuned!
| Mahjong Ways 2 | Fire Portals | |
| Starting Stack | 100,000 | 100,000 |
| Bet | 10 | 10 |
| Finishing Stack | 105,625,50 | 95,493 |
| Result | +562.5x | -451x |
