Right, first take: Stake on the shirt = more money in the coffers. If it helps sign a striker, fine by me. 🤷‍♂️

Betano on our kit looks mint though. Two-year deal and we get a solid shirt sponsor — club’s doing business. Doesn’t mean I like gambling, but euros talk.

I hate this. Clubs selling out to casinos and sportsbooks is awful. Young fans see that logo and normalise betting. Everton’s ~€12M a year? Disgusting. We should be better.

I’m in the “meh” camp. NET88 on Palace is fine — it keeps the lights on. I just want good football. Don’t yell at me.

W88 on our front? Honestly, I’ll wear the shirt proud. If it helps us stay up, I’m content. LiveScore Bet sleeve is a bit meh but whatever.

It’s not about pride. It’s about ethics. Betting ads are addictive. Clubs could find other partners. Why always gambling companies?

Because they pay well, Al. Everton reportedly got market-leading cash from Stake. Football is a business. Sponsors = transfers, wages, academy funding.

Also, not every sponsor is gambling — but for mid-table clubs it’s a lucrative category. Bournemouth’s BJ88 was reportedly around $8M (~€7.5M) — decent boost.

We should at least push for transparency. If money goes to youth development or community programs, it’s less grim. But are we getting that? No idea.

Sunderland called the W88 deal “record-breaking.” If they’re pouring it into the squad, brilliant. If not — well, at least the kit looks clean.

The fact clubs say “record deal” and we never see the numbers is the problem. Why can’t sponsorship deals include social responsibility clauses? That might help.

Some do. Look at Betano with Villa — lots of sponsorships include community bits now. Not perfect, but some responsibly-minded clauses exist.

Also remember the league ban coming 2026/27 on front-of-shirt gambling ads — so many of these are short-term. Hollywoodbets at Brentford extending till 2026 means this might be their last year on the shirt.

Oh right, the ban. That complicates things. Clubs grabbing quick cash before restrictions kick in — cynical but predictable.

If it’s a short window, might as well maximise. Then again, when the ban hits, clubs will need other revenue. Fingers crossed teams diversify.
